Graduate PLUS Loans

Graduate/Professional PLUS loans are available to all graduate or professional students. Borrow up to the cost of education, minus other financial aid received. An in-school deferment is available upon request.

Students Benefit

  • 8.50% fixed rate
  • 10-year repayment term
  • 15-day grace period after payment due date
  • Alternative repayment plans available, including graduated and income-sensitive plans

Eligibility

  • School's financial aid office determines eligibility
  • Must be enrolled at least half-time
  • Must meet credit criteria

Disbursement

  • Loan funds are sent to the school at the beginning of each semester.
  • The 1% insurance fee and 3% origination fee are withheld from each disbursement.

Repayment

Interest accrues upon disbursement and repayment begins within 60 days of the first disbursement. However, you are eligible to request an in-school deferment. The standard repayment term is 10 years. If you have a large balance or an economic hardship, reduced payments are possible.

You can save money by consolidating your Grad PLUS loans with your Stafford loans after graduation.
